This workshop is ideal for those who have some working knowledge of Lightroom and inkjet printing (or printing with a pro lab).
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 is a powerful application with many new features to help photographers of any level work more efficiently and print more effectively to desktop or lab printers. In this four hour lecture, award-winning author and photographer, Andrew Darlow, will cover the following:
• An overview of one proven approach for importing your photo collection;
• How to make sure your photos are ready to be imported into a Lightroom Catalog;
• An overview of Lightroom 4's Library and Develop Module Features;
• How to use the Print Module to color-test any lab or desktop printer;
• How to use the new Soft Proofing features in Lightroom 4;
• How to choose the right lighting in which to view your prints;
• Sample workflows and sharpening techniques for popular types of photos;
• How to use Collections, Smart Collections, the Find tool and Ratings to filter your
images;
• Tips for batch processing (creating JPGs from RAW files, for example);
• How to make selective color/contrast adjustments;
• Specific tips for using the Spot Removal tool (Clone and Heal options), Graduated
Filter tool and Adjustment Brush (all located in the Develop Module); and
• How to save Presets and apply them to one or many images.
Mac OSX will be used, but Windows-specific information will also be explained for those who use Windows. You are welcome to bring your laptop, however it is not required. Those who register for this workshop will receive a PDF with specific notes to print out and follow along during the lecture, and they will also receive a link to a webpage with many additional resources following the workshop. Each attendee will also receive a small high quality, semi-gloss color calibration print (about 3x3 inches), printed on an Epson 3880 of the file Andrew recommends for testing, as well as a link to the file so that you can compare it to your screen and your prints in Lightroom or Photoshop.
